"Emily Eyes" is an original acrylic and collage painting on stretched canvas. The painting measures 24” x 18”. The wood frame has a black matte finish and measures 25.5" tall by 19.5" tall by 2" thick. Wired and ready to hang.
On this painting I glued strips of cardboard saved from spiral bindings. (I save lots of things most people throw away, because you just never know when these gems will come in handy.) I designed these strips to block in small spaces. Then I arranged tiny compositions within these spaces. The lucky number 7 is referenced here. I also traced an object I found on the ground while out walking one day; it's arch shape with cut-out rectangles appeals to me. I'm not sure what it is, but it has inspired designs in many of my paintings. (I've included a picture of this object in the photos.) Most importantly, my niece posted a photo of herself on Facebook that caught my attention - I think it is the way she focused one eye on the camera. I asked if I could reference this pose in my artwork and she graciously agreed. I traced it many times in various ways.
✒︎ Tybo’s Tall Tales*: This collage was inspired by a close relative. One can think that this relative may be important, or have made their place in society. They are probably a fashion designer, or a politician. One way or another, they still remain close to their roots.
*My 15-year old grandson’s summer job was to stock my Etsy shop. One of his duties was to write about my artwork :)
