"Strange Fruit" is a tiny watercolor painting under plexiglass, enclosed in an 11" x 9" altered frame that may be hung on the wall or stand on its own. Cherry pits and apple seeds have been glued to the frame under chicken wire and painted with acrylic paint.
The inspiration for this piece is the song "Strange Fruit" composed by Abel Meeropol and made famous by Billie Holiday's rendition. She recorded this song in 1939.
