"Grace Note" is a mixed media painting on watercolor paper soaked and stretched over a wood (frame) stretcher. A combination of graphite and acrylic paint and found objects sewn on.
I love finding shapes of things out on my walks. I collect them and use them in my artwork. The arch shape is one of my favorites that I've used over and over again. The "note" shape is some kind of plastic object (I have no idea - maybe a straw?) Anyway, sewn onto this composition of lines, it reminds me of my piano music. The rock was shaped like a heart; that's what caught my eye, but by the time I reached home and emptied my pockets it had broken into three pieces. It is preserved the way I originally found it here on this artwork about grace and love...and maybe broken hearts.
