R is for RAIN

A contemplation of a word beginning with the letter "R", Visions A-Z: RAIN is an original artwork created for my "Visions A-Z" project.

Mixed media on 8" x 8" wood cradle panel.
Gouache paint sealed with matte medium.
A found metal object shaped like a raindrop is glued to the edge of the rainbow.

My reason for creating this series of paintings:

This project became a way to process my feelings about the 26 precious lives lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. “A” is for Arch: a shape that, for me, represents solace and strength. A dome of sunlight rises behind mother and child in “B” for Baby. I continued this comforting tone throughout the alphabet as an archetype.

All 26 artworks and 4 addition corner pieces have been photographed and digitally arranged to create a poster, which can be ordered in various sizes.
