"Three Parts" is a vertical watercolor tryptic, 3 paintings stitched together and protected in a 36.5" x 21" frame, extra thick acid-free mat, shielded with UV plexiglass.
One time my art group decided to do a project a together: we each brought 3 images to a lunch meeting. We stipulated one each of a Foreground, a Middle-ground and a Background. We put our images in a pile in the middle of the table, shuffled them, and one at a time took turns choosing 3 images that someone else brought - each coming away with a foreground, a middle-ground and a background from the others. We challenged each other to return to our next meeting with a painting that included all three images.
This is the painting I created from that experiment. I chose to use my 3 images to create separate watercolors paintings of the Fore, Mid, and Backgrounds. To connect them as one I sewed them together.
