I painted this scene after a hiking/biking getaway in the mountains of Colorado. I asked one of my friends to photograph me sitting on a bench in front of a beautiful blue lake, so I would have a reference to later paint this scene. The following year, during the painting of this canvas, I received news that my sister-in-law was gravely ill. She was unconscious and died within a couple days without being able to say goodbye to her husband and two young daughters who were by her side in the hospital. My sorrow found its way into this painting and it's title.

I had two notecards I wanted to purchase from this shop, including this one. So I bought both. I love these set of notecards, it is appeasing to my eyes with the water gleaming. These notecards from GrantviewStudio are very sturdy and well made, this one also has a very nice border on the back. I am looking forward to keeping in touch by using these amazing cards!
