This painting had it's origins in a doodle made during a phone conversation. I just loved the idea of these upright wading fish that came out of my subconscious. They made me smile.
But after I plotted out the design and began to add color to this painting, the feel became more ominous. I was listening to a rendition of "Wade in the Water" by the singer Patty Griffin over and over, which influenced my heart. Old spirituals have that affect on me.
